What do you know

In his eyes I saw,
Something I've never seen before.
The pain, the void that his smile hides,
Portrays the eyes, huge and wide.
What could he barely explain me or you;
What could he console himself with?
Couldn't he be happy just like us?
Or pretend to be, atleast like her.
Like him, he saw her cry to sleep.
Her pain, like his was way too deep.
He had lost a father indeed,
Nobody could mourn over that as much as he.
But his mother lost a soul mate, her life;
Nobody could even get close to this.
The question is, weren't they proud of the dead soul?
What do you know, they indeed are.
But no pride can fill in the pain.
All their efforts to do so went in vain.
So both of them wore their loss like a crown,
Cherish his memories whenever down.
How do they tell you or anyone,
How much they wished it wasn't him but anyone.
Those people killed the soldiers for revenge,
What about the family they ruined, nobody talked about them.
The family who's so proud he stood there to save us all;
Too bad, no feeling could overcome the sadness.
The country wept and so did you,
What do they know, thefamily might be you!
